Black History Month is a momentous occasion to recognise the invaluable contributions of the African diaspora to British society, as well as to empower future generations in creating change. This year, the month will be dedicated to honouring the achievements of Black women who are often forgotten heroines, through the theme of ‘Saluting our Sisters.’ From inspiring innovation to building communities, showcasing pioneering Black women's contributions to literature, music, fashion, sport, business, politics, academia and healthcare has never been more important. Moreover, a national poetry competition and education pack will provide students with opportunities to learn about the contributions, struggles, and triumphs of Black women throughout history. Without further ado, here are five ways you can honour Black History Month this October.
